A VINTAGE car event is being held in Hartlepool this weekend.

The Northern Bygone’s Society is holding its annual historical vehicle show at Tesco, in Belle Vue Way, on Sunday.

It’s all free and it’s a cheap day out and you will get to see living history.

The day – which is expected to attract more than 100 cars, commercial vehicles and bikes, and hundreds of people – starts at 10am and runs until around 3pm when the best vehicles will be chosen from the selection.

Organiser Paul Jackson says the vehicles on display will range from the 1930s through to 2000, along with a 1954 agricultural tractor.

He also revealed that the car show is being held on the same day as National Driver Day, which he hopes will boost attendance further as motorists get out and about in their cars.

He said: “Tesco came on board last year after we weren’t able to get on the Historic Quay site any more, and it was quite successful.

“It’s all free and it’s a cheap day out and you will get to see living history.”

The event will also have a tombola with the proceeds going to Tesco’s charities of the year Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.

Anyone wanting to place an exhibit in the show can do so for free, and there is no charge to members of the public.
