Hartlepool United defender released as Craig Hignett continues to reshape squad
Dan Jones has been released by Hartlepool United as Craig Hignett continues to re-shape his squad.
The left-back, who played in the 5-0 drubbing at Plymouth Argyle, becomes the seventh player to be released by Hignett in recent weeks
Jones, 21, arrived at The Vic in 2011 and won a professional deal two years later,.
He made 41 appearances for the club in all competitions, including playing an important role in the Great Escape of last season under former manager Ronnie Moore.
A Pools statement read: "Everyone at Hartlepool United would like to thank Dan for his service to the Club and wish him every success for the future.
"Discussions remain ongoing with other First Team players and more information will be made available in due course."
Jones’ contract was due to expire at the end of the season.
The other players released include Peter Denton, Scott Fenwick, Scott Harrison, Ebby Nelson-Addy, Kudus Oyenuga and Harry Worley.
