The likes of Joe Allon, Paul Baker and Brian Honour are set to be reunited later this month at an event in Hartlepool which is raising money for Hartlepool & District Hospice.

It follows the success of last summer’s reunion event for the 2004-05 Pools squad at the Borough Hall, which raised £8,000 for the hospice.

And organisers Phil Dunn and Andy Wilson are confident this year’s event will prove just as enjoyable.

The majority of players and staff from the memorable campaign will be in attendance for the reunion dinner, which takes place on Friday, May 20 at Seaton Carew Social Club.

Funds raised will be donated directly to Hartlepool & District Hospice and Pools legend Honour popped along to collect a signed ball which will form part of the auction on the night.

“We chose the Hospice because it’s something that is close to everyone’s hearts in the town,” said Mr Dunn.

“It costs around £6,500 every day to keep our Hospice going and it helps so many people that whatever we can raise we want to give to them and do our bit.

“The night should be another cracker with all the players and staff there from the era to share their memories of that promotion and, personally I can’t wait.

“I only missed two games of the 1990-91 season so it’s going to be great to look back on it with the heroes who took us to that glorious promotion,” he told the club’s website.

In May last year members of the 2004-05 squad - who came within eight minutes of winning promotion to the Championship - reunited for the 10th anniversary.

It proved such a success with thousands raised for the hospice that the organisers moved to hold a similar event this year, with the promotion-winning side reuniting.
