Hartlepool Voice star Rick Snowdon to do home town gig

Hartlepool singer Rick Snowdon is returning to his home town this weekend to say a huge thank you for his local support.

The former contestant on TV show The Voice, is hosting a free night of music which includes other North-East contestants from this year’s BBC1 show.

Rick’s homecoming is expected to attract crowds at Monroe’s Bar at the Hillcarter Hotel on Church Street from 8.30pm on Saturday.

The singer-songwriter will be joined on stage by Voice stars Charley B, from Newcastle, and Melissa Cavanagh, from Sunderland.

His homecoming performance will come days after the 30-year-old’s debut in the West End in Eugenius, at the London Palladium.

He said: “Never in my wildest dreams did I think at the age of 30 I’d have my first performance in the West End.

“It just blows my mind that it was be at the iconic London Palladium alongside people like Warwick Davis and Brian Blessed.

“I really relish the chance to get to work with such talented and revered performers, and learn as much as I can from them.”

“I wanted to provide a night of entertainment with my pals from The Voice as a celebration and thank you to the people of Hartlepool for their support.”

Rick rocketed to national stardom after his first appearance on The Voice with his story of locking himself into his house as a 26-stone teenager and being rescued by his love of music.

On being voted off the show by mentor Paloma Faith he said: “I have lots of good memories and no regrets whatsoever. I hope this will be a springboard to bigger and better things.”
