Hartlepool youngsters represent their country in dance arena

Proud youngsters from Hartlepool were today all set to begin representing their country in the dance arena.

Students from Nadine’s Academy of Dance and Performing Arts have qualified to represent England at the prestigious World Dance Championship which takes place in Rimini.

It started yesterday continues until Saturday with the Hartlepool contingency making up part of a team of 150 who are going over to form Team England.

This year’s event takes place in Bellaria-Igea Marina, which is on the Italian coast at Rimini.

It started with the Parade of Nations and opening ceremony which was all being held yesterday.

After that, the serious stuff begins.

The event gets into the competition stage today and marks the beginning of three days of competing in categories such as fantasy, free show, belly dance, Caribbean dance and jazz funk.

Further categories including hip hop, house break, dance show, musical, rock and roll, twist, and tap and dance pop.

And there will also be a chance for dancers to shine in hip hop, house and break battles as well as belly dance and Caribbean. There are numerous sections in the competition for adult, mini, youth, junior and senior performers.

The England Dance Squad helps dancers to represent their country at the International Dance Federation(IDF) World and European Championships.

Dance studio founder Nadine Kennedy previously told the Hartlepool Mail the competition was like the Olympics of the dance world. She added: “They all wear track suits and fly the flag.”
