A HEALTH boss has apologised to council chiefs over the contents of a letter in which he claimed staff had been “abused” at a meeting to discuss the A&E closure.

Paul Garvin, chairman of North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, made the comment in a letter to council chairman Carl Richardson which said staff would not attend a public meeting over the closure because it would be like “being in a modern-day version of the stocks”.
