A chance to learn badminton

A BADMINTON club is giving people chance to get involved with the sport by launching two new programmes.

Juniors aged eight and over can try their hand at the sport on a Monday evening while adult beginners can enjoy a session on a Thursday, both sessions being held from 6pm-7pm.

Both coaching programmes will take place at the club’s new base at Hartlepool Sixth Form College, in Blakelock Road, in the town.

Each session will cost £2.

Tony Evans, club spokesman said: “Racquets and shuttles will be provided for all sessions and there is no need for people to pre-book.

“We look forward to welcoming people to the sessions which will enable them to improve their badminton skills while also having some fun.”

The club, which is working closely with Hartlepool Borough Council’s sport and physical activity team to promote badminton, currently has about 50 members while around 20 youngsters attend junior coaching sessions.
