THE family of a brave mum who lost her cancer fight hours after renewing her wedding vows are thanking the “fantastic” nurses who supported her at a fundraiser tomorrow.
Tracy McPartlin was granted her final wish as she renewed her vows with her devoted husband, Allan, 48, at the chapel at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
But just hours later, on Valentine’s Day this year, the 45-year-old passed away after a 13-week battle with cancer.
Her loving family raised a fantastic £2,000 at her funeral, which was all donated to Macmillan Nurses.
And now they are raising even more money for the cause at an evening in Tracy’s memory at Owton Manor Social Club, in Wynyard Road, tomorrow, from 8pm-11pm.
The event has been organised by Allan and Tracy’s five children, Leanne, 26, Carl, 25, Alan, 23, Nicola, 22 and 20-year-old Jamie.
Singers will be performing at the event which will also feature a variety of stalls, beauty and henna artists, face painting and lots more.
A host of top prizes have also been donated for raffles and an auction.
Leanne, who lives in Moffatt Road, in the town, and is also doing a skydive to raise money for Macmillan Nurses, said: “The Macmillan Nurses were incredible with my mum, they were amazing.
“They were always there for her straight away if she ever needed anything and they allowed her to die in dignity and in her own home.
“We just wanted to give something back, to say thanks.”
Tickets cost £5 for tomorrow’s event and will be available on the door.
