HEALTH chiefs have revealed a new project to keep up the battle against infections in Hartlepool.

The North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has announced a campaign to remind patients and visitors that it’s ok to ask if health staff have cleaned their hands.

The aim is to keep up the trust’s record of not having a single case of blood-borne MRSA infections in the last 18 months.

Trust director of nursing, patient safety and quality Sue Smith said: “We know that one of the most effective ways of stopping infections spreading is by cleaning our hands and we’re launching this campaign to say to patients and visitors if you think we’ve forgotten or you haven’t seen us clean our hands before we touch you then it’s ok to ask.”
