THE grand finals of a weight loss competition are days away – and the personal trainer who runs it can’t wait.

Steven Smith admits he’s excited to find out how much each of his clients have lost in weight since the start of the Hartlepool Mail-backed Weigh Forward competition.

But there’s not long to wait as the contestants will all weigh in this Saturday at the Grand Hotel in Swainson Street.

In the meantime, Steven has praised the entrants in the competition.

He said: “They have all done fantastically well. I can’t wait to get them weighed.

“I am looking forward to telling them their overall weight loss.

“I will be doing their measurements as well so that I can tell them how many inches they have lost.

“At the moment, though, it is really hard to say what the total is of the weight they have all lost.”

But Steven did say that the contestants had surpassed themselves and he had already noticed changes in them. Their fitness, their lifestyle and the way they are talking. It has all changed,” said Steven.

“It has not just been their fitness levels. They have changed their lives. All of them seem to have more confidence.

“They all had their own reasons for wanting to lose weight but they have all come out of their shells. They are a lot more talkative.”

The Hartlepool Mail launched the Weigh Forward competition in conjunction with Tavistock Leisure and personal trainer Steven.

The weight loss challenge will eventually see one person win a hotel stay and one-to-one personal training for two months. And for one runner-up there’s a month’s supply of personal training.
