Heavy winds will continue to batter North East as rain and bleak weather hit region

Strong winds and patches of rain will continue to batter the North East as the bleak autumn weather remains in the region.

Today will be another very windy day with gales likely. Outbreaks of rain will continue, but temperatures will remain reasonably mild, reaching a maximum of 16°C.

Tonight and tomorrow will remain windy, with more rain at times.

The Met Office, however, says there are no flood or severe weather warnings in force.
