CALLING all green champions, role models and community heroes. Now is the time to enter the Best of Hartlepool awards.

And we also want to hear from the town’s sports people, fundraisers, children of achievement and carers.

In fact, there’s plenty of categories in this year’s Mail competition. Something for every part of society.

All we need now is for our contest to attract lots of nominations and we have already got off to a promising start. We have had some wonderful entries so far but there’s plenty of time to put yourself, or someone you know, in the running.

Or perhaps you want to put forward numerous people in a number of sectors. That’s exactly what we want. We want to truly represent the wonderful spirit that we know exists in our town.

So come on. Get nominating.

This year, people have until April 10 to come forward with deserving causes. After that, judges will narrow down the field.

But before then, we need to make their task extra hard by discovering the hidden heroes within our neighbourhoods. To nominate, visit or watch out for entry forms in the Hartlepool Mail next week.
