Help league to kick on

ORGANISERS of a free six-a-side football league need more teams before their season kicks off next month.

Dyke House Sports and Technology College, in Mapleton Road, Hartlepool, plays host to teams of friends and colleagues every Tuesday and Wednesday night during the school summer holidays as part of the Football Mundial league.

Organisers are now looking for new teams to sign up to the weekly challenge before their new season starts next month.

The league managers say the school has the best surface in the area, with a new artificial turf pitch.

It is free to enter the league, and free paintballing passes are being handed out to those who join.

Richard Orr, from Football Mundial, said: “The league will have teams of different standards, so everyone can put a team in and compete at their own level.

“There will also be a Champions League-style cup competition running, where teams will battle for a place in the cup finals night, and to get their hands on the Champions Trophy.

“There will be a cup finals and presentation night at the end of the season, where top quality trophies and prizes will be awarded to all winners and runners-up of the league and cup competitions.”

The league use FA qualified referees and provide match balls.

Each night runs from 7pm to 10pm.
