A SNAKE which was found at Hartlepool Marina has been rehomed after its owner failed to come forward.
The western hognose snake, which was spotted outside the Waterfront chip shop at Navigation Point was today starting a new chapter in its life in a new home.
The Hartlepool Mail reported how the reptile, native to Canada, Texas and Mexico, had been handed to Joe Griffin, of the Hartlepool-based not-for-profit North East Reptile Rescue Service.
He re-issued an appeal for the owner of the 2ft-long snake to come forward last week.
The dad-of-six said if the rightful owner did not respond, he would be rehoming it in York with a woman who keeps the breed.
Today Joe, 43, of Windsor Street, in Hartlepool, said: “Unfortunately the owners did not come forward so the hognose has gone to York to be rehomed.”
