A RISING star from Hartlepool stepped in to save the day for a pantomime.
With just one hour’s notice, Hollie Sorelle, 23, took over the lead role of Cinderella in the production at the Civic Theatre in Darlington at the weekend.
It meant she got to be the star on stage alongside former X Factor favourite Ray Quinn who plays Prince Charming.
The show also features ex-Emmerdale postmistress Deena Payne, who played Viv Hope in the soap, and comedian Jimmy Cricket as Baron Hardup.
When lead Emma Stephens took ill it was understudy Hollie who stepped up to be Cinderella.
Hollie said: “With very little time to prepare, it went surprisingly well and the other cast members were very supportive. After the third show I was having a ball quite literally and loved every second.”
Hollie’s proud mum Val, who runs the Val Armstrong School of Performing Arts, based in Whitby Street South, Hartlepool, said: “She had to step in as lead with one hour’s notice and she has had fantastic reviews.”
Hollie is part of the cast as well as being understudy for Cinderella, in the Darlington pantomime which runs until Sunday.
It has been a dream year for Hollie who tied the knot in her wedding with sweetheart Paul McCully on April 29 last year – the same day as Prince William married Kate Middleton.
Her year has also included being involved in catwalk shows all over the country as well as working as a presenter throughout the summer for various contacts.
