A HARTLEPOOL care home is to host a Winter Wellness event for elderly people in the community.
Brierton Lodge Nursing Centre, in Brierton Lane, Hartlepool, is providing activities for older people as part of a Winter Wellness campaign run by Bupa in partnership with older people’s charity, Royal Voluntary Service (formerly WRVS).
The Winter Wellness campaign aims to encourage older people to stay healthy, warm and well during winter.
It is part of a nationwide effort by Bupa to host feel-good events during Winter Wellness Week, which takes place between November 11 and 17, to help keep older people in Hartlepool physically and emotionally well this winter.
On Thursday, November 14, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, staff at Brierton Lodge Nursing Centre will be treating the local older community to armchair exercises, reminiscence sessions, tea tasting and a complimentary selection of winter soups and afternoon tea.
They will also be providing free copies of their Winter Warmer Recipe booklet, which details tasty, affordable and easy-to-make dishes from Bupa care home chefs.
Guests will be able to pick up a Get Ready for Winter advice leaflet, which includes some top tips to help older people prepare for winter and to keep physically and emotionally well.
Siobhan Drane, community and partnerships manager at Bupa Care Services, said: “The Winter Wellness campaign aims to help elderly people in our wider communities - and our homes - to keep well over winter.”
