Horden woman’s emotional Race for Life

THE three-mile run was emotional for Horden woman Beverley Halliman – because it was all done in memory of her late mum.

Beverley, 43, from Woodland Avenue, in Horden, lost her mum Barbara Richardson, 68, to lung cancer.

Barbara, who was from Blackhall, passed away two years ago after a brave one-year fight with the disease.

Beverley, who works in day care in the Thornley area, was determined to raise money in Barbara’s memory for a second time.

They got round the five-mile course with her friend and fellow runner Susan Regan, 50, from Newton Aycliffe, who works as a volunteer for the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Beverley said: “It was two years ago that mum died and, two years ago, myself and a group of ladies raised £7,800 for the cause.

“This time, we have so far got about £400. We’re not doing it to set any speed records but just to raise money for a very worthy cause.”
