Hospice event to be a knockout

Hartlepool & District Hospice’s 5th annual It’s a Knockout and Family Fun Day takes place on Saturday at Hartlepool RFC (Old Boys), Mayfield Park, Easington Road.

The event combines the wacky competition based on the classic TV series, hosted by Graham Fisher’s International It’s a Knockout with a full day of attractions and fun for all the family including a barbecue, children’s fairground rides, bouncy castle, inflatable assault course, and a beat the goalie game.

Greg Hildreth, a fundraiser at the hospice said: “This has become one of our most established events and a big day out for families from all over the local area. We have some great teams signed up this year some are regulars and some new faces too. The fun day that runs alongside the games looks set to be the biggest yet, with all kinds of great things to do.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Seymour, not only for sponsoring the event, but for their planning support, help in recruiting the teams and ensuring that we will have a great day and raise lots of essential funding for our specialist care services. Additional thanks to Old Boys for having us back once again.”

The event is free for spectators and general public to attend although the hospice will be collecting donations as well as raising money from the stalls and attractions.

The hospice, based in Wells Avenue, Hartlepool, is a registered charity offering specialist palliative care to hundreds of adults from Hartlepool and East Durham each year.

It costs £2.34 million to continue providing the current range of services, the hospice receives 24% per cent NHS funding so the outstanding £1,780,000 must be raised through the local community and other fundraising initiatives.
