Fundraisers at Hartlepool & District Hospice are hoping this year’s Colour Run will be their biggest yet with hundreds of runners already signed up to raise vital cash.
The second annual Colour Run is set to take place on Saturday and over 300 runners have already signed up, topping last year’s number of participants.
Last year the sell-out event raised around £8,000 for the hospice and this year organisers are hoping to beat this total to make it the best-ever event.
The fun run, which is open to all ages, kicks off at 11am from the Old Coach Park at Seaton Carew and follows a route along the sea front and back, during which the runners will be covered in multi-coloured powdered paint.
Before the event, crowds will be entertained by DJ Kevin King and the Amy Richardson Dance Studio as well taking part in an aerobic warm up.
There will also be a variety of colourful accessories on sale at the event.
Janice Forbes, the hospice’s community fundraiser said: “We’re thrilled that last year’s Colour Run has grown and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more people this year for an even bigger event.
“Places are limited and are selling very quickly in the last days approaching the run, so I’d recommend booking as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has registered so far as well as our sponsors and the other companies and individuals who have supported the event.
“As ever, all proceeds will be used to fund Hospice care in Hartlepool and the surrounding areas.”
The Colour Run is sponsored by Readhead Associates, Fire 97, Yorkshire Bank, Tangent Construction, Focus Cladding and is also supported by Northumbrian Water, Clevestone Trans Ltd. Seymour Civil Engineering, Hartlepool Borough Council and Aplant.
