Fire crews have been out this morning to deal with a blaze which has "destroyed" a Hartlepool house.
Officers were called to Dorset Street in the town at 3.30am today.
Three appliances, two from Stranton station and one from Billingham, went to the incident at the mid-terrace, two-bedroom house.
A living room and hall area was severely damaged by the fire, which radiated to a Ford Fiesta car outside.
Neighbouring properties were left damaged by smoke as well.
Two officers wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel, one jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan to put out the blaze.
Watch manager Jason Wood, of Stranton station, said: "The fire was well alight at the time that we arrived at the scene.
"Two properties either side were affected by smoke.
"The house itself was completely destroyed by fire.
"Thankfully the house was unoccupied at the time but the electricity supply has been isolated.
"The cause if the fire is now under investigation."
