Police have begun an investigation after a box believed to be collecting cash for cancer battler Bradley Lowery was stolen.
Officers in Peterlee are searching for a suspect after the box was taken from the counter of The Lunch Box in Yoden Road.
The theft happened during the last few days and police say they were alerted after the box was found nearby at 11am today.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: "Police are investigating and inquiries are ongoing into the theft of a charity box from that shop.
"We are looking for suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 173 of March 19.
