Inquest opened into minibus death

AN inquest has opened into the death of a man who died after being hit by a minibus.

Durham Coroner Andrew Tweddle opened the inquest into the death of Darren Wake, 43, of South View, Wheatley Hill.

Mr Wake was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the A181, near Running Waters, at around 1.20am on Sunday.

The incident happened when a minibus was taking passengers home to Peterlee.

The inquest has been opened and adjourned to a date yet to be fixed, pending further police inquiries.
