Inquiries after fire in unit

INQUIRIES are underway to find out who owns two temporary buildings after a suspicious fire in one of them.

Firefighters from Stranton Fire Station in Hartlepool were called to the units behind Tower Street at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

The contents of one had been set on fire and there were concerns because of the site’s open access and the other unit had gas cylinders inside.

Ian Brown, fire watch manager, said: “It appears to be a deliberate fire. It potentially could have been a lot worse.”
