Knauf Insulation has increased productivity, reliability and capacity to meet the growing demands of the industry, bosses have said.

And it all comes at a plant where an impressive proportion of the workforce have showed loyalty by staying for years.

Bosses praised the dedicated workforce for their hard work which had played a big part in Knauf’s success.

Hartlepool MP Iain Wright paid a visit himself.

Impressed Mr Wright said: “Knauf Insulation is the UK’s leading insulation manufacturer.

“Its products are an important part of the construction supply chain – ensuring that Britain’s homes and businesses are able to be properly energy efficient.”

He was “pleased that the manufacturer has a factory in Hartlepool. I’m equally delighted that they have decided to invest further substantial amounts into its facilities”.

He added: “This is a welcome boost to the town’s economy and a show of support and confidence from Knauf Insulation in the factory’s staff and customer base, which will hopefully increase as a result of this investment.”

Plant general manager Stuart Bell said the investment had helped bring an improvement in the quality and reliability of the manufacturing process.

“It was a pleasure to show Iain around the plant again and meet our employees, who worked hard during the refurbishment to keep the business running.”

Knauf’s Hartlepool plant manufactures extruded polystyrene (XPS) products known as Polyfoam ECO insulation.

It is used where the insulation is subject to harsh environments and high compressive loads, such as ground floors and inverted roofs.

The Hartlepool plant of Knauf Insulation, which is based on the Hunter House Industrial Estate, has a 32-strong workforce and 13 of the workers have been there for more than 20 years.

The Mail has been told that the latest seven-figure investment has safeguarded the jobs of people who already work there.
