MAIL reader Linda Bailey had a night to remember after meeting TV star Crissy Rock through a competition in her favourite newspaper.
Linda entered the recent Hartlepool Mail competition which gave readers the chance to enjoy a night of entertainment with Crissy, fresh from a successful stint in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, in Houghton-le-Spring.
Crissy, who lives in Peterlee and is currently playing a starring role in Cinderella at Billingham Forum, returned to her roots of stand-up comedy with a sell-out show at the Rainton Meadows Arena, which was orgainsed by Hartlepool-based Goffy Media.
Linda, from Seaside Lane in Easington Colliery, won the Mail competition to snap up tickets for the show and got the chance to meet the Benidorm actress afterwards.
She said: “It was fantastic to meet Crissy, and it was a lovely surprise to be invited backstage to chat with her.
“It really made my night and was a wonderful Christmas surprise for me.
“I have been a fan of Crissy’s for a long time, I love her in Benidorm. We laughed when she was talking about taking her teeth out in front of the camera while she was in the jungle.
“She was fantastic on stage, very funny. She was near the knuckle, but with loads of warmth. It was great to hear a woman’s side of living life with a man, she has some hilarious stories to tell in her act.”
The evening was hosted by former radio DJ Paul ‘Goffy’ Gough, who runs Goffy Media.
He said: “It was a most memorable welcome back for Crissy. The place was packed and rocking with laughter during her appearance.”
Crissy added: “It was really nice to meet Linda, she told me that she had followed my career, read my book and supported me during my time in the lungle with Ant and Dec.
“It is really nice having that kind of support, and I told Linda that I really do appreciate it.”
