CONTROVERSIAL plans to transfer a range of outpatient services from the University Hospital of Hartlepool have been narrowly rejected by councillors.

But the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust could still move services into One Life Hartlepool, in Park Road, as they are not controlled by the local authority and a final decision is expected in January.

The phased programme was originally due to start in July but it was postponed and Hartlepool Borough Council’s health scrutiny forum has since met four times to discuss the plans.

Today we ask: Were councillors right to vote against transferring more health services out of Hartlepool?
