MORE job losses have been announced at a truck plant.
Around 70 temporary workers at Caterpillar Logistics in Peterlee are being laid off.
It comes less than a month since 300 agency workers were let go by the firm, who blame the losses on a fall in demand for its products after a good start to the year.
A Caterpillar spokesman said: “We regret the need to take this action, but we need to align our workforce with production volumes and continue to position our business to be successful in the long-term.”
Easington MP Grahame Morris described the news as “hugely disappointing” and is calling on the Government to do more to stimulate demand.
