THE number of jobless benefit claimants in Hartlepool has fallen for the third month in a row.
New figures released today show there were 4,612 people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in May, the third time it has continuously dropped since February when it stood at 4,678.
The latest figure is 7.9 per cent of the working age population in the town.
The Easington constituency had 3,195 claimants in May, down by 77 on the previous month.
In the Sedgfield constituency there was a rise of 85 claimants in May up to 2,612 and the Stockton North constituency, which includes Billingham, Wolviston and parts of Wynyard, saw a fall of 20 claimants to 4,181.
