KINDHEARTED walkers will be out in force this weekend for a popular annual fundraiser – and there’s still time for people to sign up.
After five hugely successful Midnight Walks, an event which has raised around £250,000 for Hartlepool & District Hospice, this year sees a new take on the facility’s biggest fundraiser with the very first Moonlight Walk.
The event is aimed at ladies but men can take part as well.
Hundreds of walkers will be getting together for the five mile walk on Saturday night, but organisers are still urging people to register and help raise funds for the Wells Avenue-based hospice.
Last year’s Midnight Walk raised £27,000 for the cause and hospice staff are hoping to beat that total this time around.
Greg Hildreth, events and community facilitator at the hospice, said: “We’ve already got more than 200 people signed up so far, which is great.
“We are all really looking forward to it now.
“It’s going to be a great night and we are hoping to see as many people there as possible.”
Registration in advance costs £10 but people who sign up on the night must pay £25.
The walk starts and finishes at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience at 10pm and walkers will receive T-shirts and refreshments prior to the walk and are welcomed back with a hot supper at the finish line.
