A CARE assistant at a care home has been recognised by her national bosses for her good work.
Katy Gallagher, 22, a care assistant at Manor Park Care Home, off Wynyard Road, Hartlepool, has won a ROCK Award which stands for Recognition of Care and Kindness.
The scheme is run by bosses at Four Seasons, which run the care home and it is the first time anyone from Manor Park has won one of the ROCK awards.
Jean Reaney, care home manager, said: “We are all delighted for Katy, she really deserves this award.
“She was blushing when we told her because she said she had never won anything before.”
Manor Park Care Home has 49 residents and 51 staff working at the home.
Katy, who started work there back in November 2009, was nominated anonymously by a relative of a resident.
The nomination read: “Katy looked after my father and she is a lovely young girl.
“She always kept my father clean, happy and made him feel happy. When I came to visit my dad, Katy would offer me cups of tea and made an effort with my visit.
“Katy seems to enjoy her job and I personally would say she puts 110 per cent in looking after all residents on the Cameron Unit.
“I also noticed Katy would make the unit clean and tidy and that nothing is a problem for her.
“Katy is a friendly person and she will go far. Thank you very much for making my dad feel loved and cared for.”
Nominations are sent in via the Four Seasons website and then the national bosses choose the winners of the award.
