A Hartlepool man has been chosen as a real cornerstone of the town’s community.
Keith Robson, a comic illustrator and art therapist, acts as an important role model to many vulnerable people in his home town. His efforts won him a title at the Newcastle Building Society’s fifth annual Cornerstone of the Community Awards. It was presented by Hartlepool Mayor Mary Fleet.
More than 150 guests attended the ceremony - held to recognise invaluable contributions made by locals - at the Wynyard Hotel.
Keith works across groups, from primary schools to care homes. He provides individual support to youngsters with behavioural problems, as well as working with a group of young mothers from vulnerable families.
Individual awards were also made by the teams at the local NBS branches, with the Hartlepool award going to five young volunteers from the town’s Summer Fun Club who planned and organised a four-week programme of events and activities for more than 200 children from the north Hartlepool area.
