Knife robbery appeal

POLICE are reappealing for help in hunting down a man who subjected a woman to a terrifying knife-point robbery.

A lone 25-year-old woman was left “very shaken and upset” after being targeted by a man with a pen knife who stole her mobile phone.

Detectives had appealed in the Mail for help in catching the man responsible for the incident and are now urging people again to come forward.

The robbery is said to have happened between 8pm-8.15pm on Monday, January 24.

Police say the woman was walking towards Catcote Road, from the alleyway between Greenock Road and the Manor Care Home, in Hartlepool, when she stopped to make a phone call.

When it finished she placed her phone back in her pocket and continued to walk but was approached by a man wearing dark clothing with his face partially covered with a hat.

He threatened her with a pen knife and swiped the phone, a pink Nokia 6700, from her pocket and made off towards Greenock Road.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Amanda Luke, of Hartlepool CID, on (01642) 302178 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
