Last call for our heroes

THE search for the heroes of the Hartlepool sporting world is almost over.

But for anyone still waiting to nominate their favourites, there’s still a few days to put names forward.

You have until this Friday to come up with the names of people that you think is worthy of an award.

Then, in the next fortnight, we will begin the process of sifting through the dozens of worthy names and drawing up a shortlist.

After that, we’ll move on to the glittering awards night in early October, at the Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield.

In the meantime, we are continuing the search for more entries for our inaugural awards.

So far, we have had nominations from sports including football, rugby, boxing, cricket and sailing.

Perhaps you know of a deserving cause from another sporting field.

Why not nominate them and give them the recognition they deserve?

All it takes is for you to fill in the nomination form on this page, or complete an easy form online at the Hartlepool Mail website.

We have featured some of the excellent and deserving causes so far and they are only an example of the standard of entries we have already received.

But we want more and there is still time to add to an already great list.

You have until September 13 to put forward their favourites, whether it’s grass roots stars to those excelling at an international level.

There are 13 categories in this year’s competition and they are as follows:

Team of the Year

Sportsperson Special Achievement Award

Disabled Sports Person

Disabled Team of the Year

Contribution to Disability Sports Award

Sports Official/Referee Award

Coach of the Year Award

Unsung Hero Award or Volunteer/Young Leader Award

Club of the Year Award

Lifetime Achievement Award

Sports Personality of the Year Award

Young Sports Personality of the Year Award

Inspire Award.
