A TEAM of staff from a law office will take over the running of a charity shop this weekend to raise vital funds for youngsters.
Ten staff from the Stockton office of national law firm Berrymans Lace Mawer LLP will be taking over the Hartlepool Barnardo’s store this weekend to raise as much money as possible for the children’s charity.
Tomorrow, the legal team will run the store, at Carlton Corner, for one day only, battling it out against eight of the firm’s other offices in other parts of the country, in the aptly named ’Store Wars’ challenge. The winning team will be the one which increases the shop’s average takings by the largest percentage that day.
The team has a lot of children’s activities planned for the day, including face painting, ‘guess the name of the bear’ and ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ competitions.
There will also be a raffle, tombola as well as items to buy boost the team’s total and raise funds for disadvantaged children.
Allan McLaren, assistant director of fundraising at Barnardo’s, said: “Barnardo’s is delighted that BLM is taking on a firm-wide Store Wars challenge.
“This will raise vital funds for our work supporting the UK’s most vulnerable children young people and their families. This event is a great way to raise awareness of our local shops and volunteering.”
