HARTLEPOOL’S heroic lifeboat crew have received a boost towards new lifejackets thanks to a generous business.
Northern Gas Networks supported the RNLI’s life jackets for life savers scheme by giving £340 towards the cost of one of the cutting edge jackets.
Hartlepool RNLI crew member Steve Pounder works for Northern Gas Networks as a network technician.
He said: “I was really thankful for the money they donated for the life jacket and hope they can continue to support me in my role with the RNLI.
“Over the years the company has supported me if ever I need any time off for training or if I get a call out.
“I have been well looked after by the company.”
Susan Wareham from the firm said: “We are pleased to support the essential work of the RNLI by contributing to the cost of new life jackets for two of our employees who are long-standing RNLI volunteers.
“Both the RNLI and Northern Gas Networks operate 24-hour emergency services – the RNLI saves lives at sea and we provide the north of England’s gas emergency response service.
“Both are life-saving operations that play vital roles in protecting the local communities they serve.
“We wholeheartedly support the RNLI and are proud to support our employees in their continued commitment to this charity.”
The innovative life jackets incorporate the latest material technology and have been designed to be safer and fit better.
