A LIFEGUARD proved a hit with the ladies when he landed himself a date on a hit TV show.
Hartlepool’s Liam Lewis strutted his stuff to an audience of five million people as he took part in ITV’s Take Me Out on Saturday night.
The 23-year-old made a big impression on the 30 women taking part in the dating show with the help of host Paddy McGuinness.
During each round, the glammed-up girls had the chance to drop out from a prospective holiday by turning off their light, to the catchphrase “no likey, no lighty”.
But few switched off for Liam, of the town’s Hart Lane, and he was left to choose who to go with to the “love island of Fernando”, which is really Cyprus.
After whittling them down to just a couple, and cheekily saying “well done for getting to the final two“, he picked stunning brunette Lucy – with host Paddy saying he had been among the most popular contestants to appear on the show.
Liam also works as a sports development worker for Hartlepool Borough Council.
Videos played during the episode showed Liam describing himself as “genuine, outgoing, up for a laugh and a bit random”.
He was also seen patrolling Seaton Carew beach and running “Baywatch-style” along the sand, saying he wasn’t there to pose but “to save lives”.
He also revealed his love of astronomy and that his mum, Denise Lewis, waxes his “mono-brow”.
How much the former student at Henry Smith School, New College Durham and Teesside University enjoyed his date will be shown during this Saturday night’s episode.
