A MAIL link-up with the world’s biggest half marathon is getting better all the time.
The partnership will now see the results of every Bupa Great North Run finisher from the Hartlepool area will be published in the Mail.
That’s an approximate 700 keen runners who can find themselves in print after proudly finishing the famous 13.1 mile run from Newcastle to South Shields.
The run will have an estimated 54,000 competitors tackling the course on Sunday, September 16, including Olympic gold double medallist Mo Farah.
Mo completed an epic Olympic Games 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres double and then revealed he would be making his debut at the Bupa Great North Run.
His rivals will include the legendary distance runner Haile Gebrselassie.
For runners from Hartlepool, there is another incentive to do well.
The Bupa Great North Run team will also be offering a trophy to the first male and female finisher from Hartlepool in the Bupa Great North Run.
Run organisers say they are delighted to be working with the Mail in the year when we launched our own Race For Fitness drive to get 2012 people fit in Olympic year.
Watch out for those run results – and the details of the trophy winners – in the Mail soon after the Great North Run is completed.
In the meantime, we have already chosen our winners in our first link-up with the Bupa Great North team.
We offered two free places in the Bupa Great North 5k which will be staged on the morning of Saturday, September 15, the day before the iconic half marathon.
There’s a limit of 1,500 places on the run which is being staged for the very first time – and two of them will be taken by Mail readers.
Our winners are Leanne Kennedy and Anneli Ferrier and they correctly answered that the Bupa Great North 5k starts at the Newcastle Quayside.
Well done to them and watch out for more Bupa Great North Run coverage in the coming weeks.
