Man airlifted to hospital after fall on sand dunes in Hartlepool
A man was airlifted to hospital after a fall on sand dunes in Hartlepool left him with serious leg injuries.
The 62-year-old man from Billingham was out walking on sand dunes, an area inaccessible by road, when he fell.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the Blue Lagoon beach area of Seaton Carew at 8.10am, today.
He was treated by the GNAAS doctor-led aircrew before being airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough in a flight that took six minutes.
The patient was stable on arrival.
