Man airlifted to hospital after motorbike collision on Hartlepool road

A man has been airlifted to hospital after being involved in a collision with a motorcyclist.

The Great North Air Ambulance were called to Easington Road, in Hartlepool at just after 11.30am, today, following the incident.

Motorists travelling along the road were met with delays as officers from Cleveland police closed it to traffic.

The man, believed to be in his 60s or 70s, suffered a fractured leg and head injuries - however they are not thought to be life-threatening.

He was taken to the James Cook University Hospital for treatment.

It is understood the pensioner was in a collision with a Triumph motorbike believed to be driven by a male driver.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “A man suffered a fracture to the leg and head injuries when he was involved in a collision with a motorbike.

“The man was airlifted to the James Cook University Hospital.

“The road was closed in both directions while emergency services assisted the injured man.”
