A man has been arrested on suspicion of affray after police officers swooped on a house in Hartlepool this morning.
Police attended an address in Thorpe Street, on the Headland, after a call at around 6.25am which raised concerns for the welfare of a man.
When officers arrived a man was in possession of a bladed article and had made threats.
Officers say at no time were any members of the public at risk.
Officers were able to speak with the man who eventually allowed them and paramedics inside.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and has been taken to hospital for treatment.
No-one else was injured as a result of the incident and police are no longer at the scene.
