Man cut from car after smash

A MAN was rushed to hospital with a suspected broken leg after his car was involved in a collision.

Firefighters from Peterlee Fire Station had to cut the man, in his late 40s, from his blue Peugeot 206 following the incident in Trotter Terrace in Shotton Colliery at 4.50pm yesterday.

His car was involved in a collision with a silver Honda before the vehicles crashed into a wall and the road was closed for around an hour.

The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham.
