A MAN has appeared in court accused of a string of sex attacks on a young girl.
Hugh Hyland is charged with five counts of indecent assault said to have taken place in Hartlepool several years ago.
The 61-year-old entered not guilty pleas to each of the charges when he appeared at Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court.
Justices declined jurisdiction for the case as they felt their sentencing powers, if convicted, were insufficient.
The case was adjourned until June 28 when it will be transferred to Teesside Crown Court.
Hyland, of Beacons Lane, Ingleby Barwick, was granted unconditional bail in the meantime.
