Man in hospital after attack

A MAN was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a gang of masked men allegedly burst into his home and attacked him.

The man, in his mid-forties, was at home with his partner in their bungalow when four men are said to have stormed in while armed with various weapons.

The incident took place at the man’s home in Laburnum Terrace, in Shotton Colliery.

Detective Sergeant Cliff Down, of Peterlee CID, said: “We received a phone call from a woman saying her partner had been in the bungalow when four men came to the door armed with various implements.

“The occupant was attacked by three or four men, possibly wearing ski masks, and was beaten around the head and body and was taken to hospital with head injuries.

“We would appeal for anyone with information to come forward and assist the police inquiry.”

Two men have been arrested and questioned in connection with the incident.
