A MAN has been killed in a crash on the A689.
He died after a smash involving two cars at around 12.40pm today, December 12.
The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) had been called to the incident that took place on the stretch of road between Sedgefield and the A1(M), along with other emergency services.
But despite the efforts of paramedics, the man who is described as a “young male” was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for the GNAA said: “The helicopter crew worked with both road paramedics and the Hazardous Area Response Team paramedics to provide advanced life support to a young male who had been critically injured.
“Despite efforts, the patient sadly died.”
