Man punched and kicked unconscious in Hartlepool robbery

A man was punched and kicked in the head in a brutal Hartlepool robbery yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 26-year-old man was assaulted and knocked unconscious.

The incident happened as the victim was making his way along the footpath that runs behind Wynyard Mews and Glamis Walk in Hartlepool at around 12.15am.

He was listening to music via his headphones and mobile phone when he was approached from behind by two males opposite Jarvis Walk, according to police.

He was punched in the head and face before being kicked in the head and losing consciousness.

The victim was left with head and facial injuries and was treated at the University Hospital of North Tees.

His mobile and phone and head phones were stolen, say police.

The two male suspects are described as young, of thin build and both were wearing dark clothing.
