Man taken to hospital after Hartlepool beach rescue

A man was taken to hospital after being taken ill on the beach at Seaton Carew last night.

Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team was paged by Humber Coastguard around 9pm with a report of a man suffering a fit on the beach somewhere in the North Gare area.

Further reports came in as they arrived at the scene and the crew was diverted were diverted to Seaton to gain access to the beach.

The man was found approximately half a mile north of the North Gare pier.

The coastguard team escorted a Hazardous Area Response Team paramedic to the scene to stabilise the man before transporting him to a waiting ambulance for the journey to North Tees Hospital.

No details of his condition are available.
