Man taken to hospital after assault outside Hartlepool takeaway

A 22-YEAR-OLD man was left unconscious in the street after being attacked outside a takeaway.

The victim, from Hartlepool, received head injuries in the assault that happened between 8pm and 9pm on Monday, in Northgate, on the town’s Headland.

He has been outside a Chinese takeaway waiting for a friend, who was inside ordering some food.

When the friend left the eaterie he found him with serious head and facial injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, where he remains. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police are currently investigating and a cordon has been put in place at the scene.
