Man taken to hospital after two-car smash on A19 near Hartlepool

A MAN was taken to hospital after a two-car collision that blocked a carriageway of the A19.

Traffic on the southbound carriageway near the Ron Perry service station near Elwick, in Hartlepool, is now flowing freely after a two-vehicle collision on Friday morning.

The incident involved a mini-van and a car.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 10.27am on Friday to a G2 call, which is classed as non life-threatening, on the A19 near Hartlepool.
“A male with minor back injuries was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.”

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 10.10am on Friday to the A19 southbound near Ron Perry’s service station.

“This was a two-vehicle collision between a car and a mini-van.”

The ambulance service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) was also despatched to the incident but was not required.
