A missing man was taken to hospital after being talked down from a pier in Hartlepool by police.

The coastguard in Hartlepool were called to help Cleveland Police searching for a missing man.

A check of the piers around the Hartlepool Marina area at 3.15am, today, came to nothing.

However, the man was eventually discovered on Middleton South pier.

He was spoken to by a police negotiator and he came off the pier and out of the rock armour and taken to hospital.
