POLICE had to talk a man down from a roof after he was threatening to harm himself.
Emergency services attended Everett Street, in Hartlepool, around 2pm on Saturday to a report of a man on the roof of a house.
Two fire engines from the town’s Stranton Fire Station attended the scene and put a ladder up to the roof.
It took police negotiators an hour and 20 minutes to persuade the man to come down.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said: “The man had been threatening self-harm.
“He was persuaded to come down and detained under the Mental Health Act.”
After firefighters put a ladder up to the roof, police officers got the man to climb down.
